Why Why Why Why Why?????
What are the reasons for the closure of Pokerstars, Full Tilt, Absolute and Ultimate Bet to the American public?
If the sites had crossed the line with fraudulent or other illegal activity, then fair enough but why are the players being punished? Or is it the fact that these sites are the biggest in the world and the government aren’t able to tax the sites or players? Does the government expect to gain more from limiting players in the States to playing in live card rooms? Is it really a crime to play online poker or live for that fact?
The fact that not all countries or states consider online poker to be illegal says it all…it’s just a game enjoyed by millions of people from all walks of life unless for religious reasons the gambling side of the game is forbidden…it’s just a game NOT a crime!
Murder is a crime, Theft is a crime, Rape and Child abuse are crimes right across the card, in every country no doubt that these are all crimes but Online Poker, they’re having a laugh.
Is it for tax purposes? is it that the government don’t know how to tax players winnings on Online sites as they do in live gambling and realise they are missing out on a big chunk of dough?
I think taxing players on winnings is a crime itself especially as the monies that circulate poker and other forms of gambling have already been taxed while being earned. The only taxing of poker should be paid by the sites who charge players to play and also live venues.
In the UK there is no taxing of players winnings but poker is not allowed outside the casino’s with the exception of bars and clubs which are limited to unreasonable limits, buy-ins, payouts etc but anyone with a tv and remote control can gamble thousands on a game of roulette from their armchair..something is not right! For me it’s just common sense, allow Online sites to provide a service and take their rake and in turn pay tax on their rake, same goes for live venues and leave the players to enjoy the game they love.

Main Event Poker are nearly there, still waiting on phone lines being connected (nightmare) and finishing touches to decor and we’re ready to go.
Can’t wait to have a base to settle in and work from :-) then it’s all go for the worlds biggest poker directory to be.
Plans for the new updated site are under-way and the amount of spec listed is phenomenal but will be worth the effort.
We now have our own team working on all aspects of the MEP Brand. Venue listing, Tournaments, Academy, Sponsored Festivals and also planning for a UK based tour, Euro tour and an international event spanning the globe…it’s all coming!
Just need to get our offices ready ;-)

Continuing to work away adding venues and tournament schedules as well as updating and just trying to keep it all going smooth.

There’s not much else we can do until we move into our new offices in January and then it’s full gas.

At the moment Team MEP is scattered around in different parts of the city…each doing their own thing and every couple of days we meet and go over the plans for Main Event Poker 2011. There’s so much going on behind the scenes and it’s all very exciting. For now it’s all about patience waiting to move into our new HQ and then things should start to move very fast but in the meantime we shall continue to add add add venues and schedules.

I wish all friends of MEP a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2011

2010 has not half been a grind setting up Main Event Poker!

Looking forward to the New Year…couple extra pairs of hands coming on board at MEP :-)

Spent today updating the online sites…well removing the ones which don’t exist anymore and tomorrow will be spent adding more sites and venues. It’s been a grind this past year but well worth the effort. Looking to bring a new look site after the New Year…making space for more content.

Will continue to grind it out and all going well, we should be settled in a new office mid-end January with all the MEP team working together to bring you the most regularly updated Poker Directory www.mepdirectory.com

Excited about Main Event Poker Directory!

•November 28, 2010 • Leave a Comment

There is so much happening…although all behind the scenes…for just now but it’s all good and very exciting.
With planning going on just now to add a lot more content to the www.maineventpokerdirectory.co.uk I just can’t wait! I want it up there right now but good things come to those who wait and with MEPD, I’ve done my fair share of waiting.
The main aim of MEPD is to provide a listing of everything poker and it’s going to take time but that’s the goal to be the biggest and best.
So far this year has been focused on adding venues/ schedules (regular/major) online sites and also some updates of what’s happening but now it’s time to grow, although MEPD has just started and trying to get out there, I feel if it going to reach it’s potential we have to start making changes already so to make room for bigger menu and list more than just poker venues and schedules.
I’m very happy with the MEPD iphone app and plans are underway for two more versions that will be available on itunes. There will also be a free to download MEP Hand Calculator and Bankroll Spreadsheet. There will also be a listing for poker forums from all over the world and just about everything else that’s poker.
Defo watch this space ;-)

Latest additions to www.maineventpokerdirectory.co.uk tournament schedule are the 3Lander Grand Final in Vienna and also legs for Heartland Poker Tour 2011.

Good feedback on the App http://maineventpoker.co.uk/directory/iphone.asp and will continue to add more and more each day.

Spent long time here in front of computer and think I’m going to call it a night.
